BOWFIRE | November 4, 2007
When is the last time you saw a concert violinist (and a stinking good one, at that) get up and tap dance? While playing?
Okay. That one was too easy. When is the last time you saw three of them do it? At the same time? Or sing?
Gotcha … you’ve never seen Bowfire!
Well, tonight (I can’t wait until tomorrow to start writing this) was the only night in South East Michigan for Bowfire this season but you can catch them on your local PBS station.
From the dramatic opening of the curtain until the all-too-soon grand finale 90 minutes later, you’ll find yourself amazed at the performance unfolding before your very eyes … and ears. Their own web site says it best when it says that “It takes its audiences on a musical journey that moves seamlessly from Jazz, Classical, Bluegrass, Celtic, Rock, Gypsy, World, Texas Swing and Ottawa Valley and Cape Breton styles and mixes in incredible step and tap dancing and a beautiful voice.”
Yeah. They know all the notes. And all the steps. And the blond woman even sings
.
If I actually tried to tell you what I just witnessed, you wouldn’t believe me. Watch the PBS special. Then we can discuss this.
