Hi, I’m Bill.
I’m a 56 year old resident of Detroit, MI. with family roots that pass through West Virginia on their way to Ireland and Scotland.
I’ve been an urban organic gardener for at least 15 years … maybe longer. I’ve done a lot of things for a living, but puttering around in the garden has helped me keep my sanity. More or less.
Two or three years ago I started a web page about my garden and the unusual technique I have used to help my plants along, but it was a bit much for me to keep up at the time. Since then, blogs have hit their stride and I’ve found that I can keep adding stuff as it happens without having to learn how to do hardcore coding. Thus I am able to keep things lively for my readers without obsessing over the code in the background.
I hope you find my writing clear and understandable. If not, please drop me a line at ‘bill 13510 at gmail dot com’. Obviously you’ll have to fix that address, but that won’t pose much of a challenge for most of you.
About the ads …
I’m experimenting with hand-picked ads from Amazon.com. I haven’t been impressed with the so-called ‘context’ ads that AdSense offers for this blog.
I’m going to continue the AdSense experiment for a little while longer, but if they don’t show some serious improvement in their usefulness soon, I’m going to go through and manually yank every clueless one I can find.
Any ad that I serve to you must stand a reasonable chance of serving your needs. I appreciate your forbearance. This is just a blog … unlike a child, it must pay its way.
I’ve hooked up with a poster company to offer their material, too. As I looked over their stock looking for a poster for myself, I realized that they had a lot of nice posters that would appeal to my readers. When I found out that they also had an affiliate program, I signed up. I’m pretty certain that it requires that I hand-select the various posters, so look for these to actually show something that you might be interested in owning. They offer the posters in both framed and unframed condition and have a neat feature that lets you see the poster / print actually ‘in’ the frame you choose. Good stuff, that. I’ll start with one or two scattered here and there. Even if they are good sellers (and I think that they may be), I don’t want to just snow you under with their ads, either.
Bill
