Thinking about re-using an old HD?

Hardware, Linux, Microsoft, Operating Systems

I have a 200GB ATA drive that, IIRC, has a lot of good data (family photos, etc.) still sitting on it. I’ve been debating over whether to buy an external enclosure with power supply for it or just buy a cheap-o used computer, insert that HD and copy its useful contents elsewhere.

The problem with that idea is that my only other computer at the moment is a laptop with less than 10 GB free. And, I think the loose HD was formatted to a JFS format that Windows is useless with. “Useless” as in “Can’t even find.”

Suggestions?

In this case, the cheap / simple / fast answer is the preferred one.
